Tokyo Narita Airport tourist guide – hotels – car hire

Narita, sometimes called ‘The New Tokyo International Airport’, consists of two terminals and is situated 40 miles north-east of Tokyo. It is the major international gateway for Japan. Each of Narita’s terminals offers a large number of destinations. European airline companies proliferate in Terminal 1 whereas Terminal 2 houses largely Asian airlines. Both of the terminals boast excellent rail and bus connections with Japan's capital city, as well as the other main airport in the area, Haneda, which now handles mainly flights within Japan.

The terminals are about 1 mile apart between which people can travel using swift shuttle buses that leave every 10 minutes. Business services, banks and ATMs are also available in the terminals, along with airline club lounges catering to the needs of frequent, business and first-class flyers. Also the terminals offer excellent services with a variety of restaurants, bars, newsstands and shops.

Taxis from Narita to the centre of Tokyo are amongst the most expensive in the world, with the 90 minute trip costing upwards of 15,000 Yen (US$100).
